Frequently Asked Questions

Why the group size of 8 to 24?
The minimum number of 8 participants is based on curriculum considerations. Many of the lessons are related to team building. To create an effective group dynamic, a team must have at least 8 girls. If a site has more than 24 interested girls and there are enough coaches, we can divide the large group into two smaller teams that operate simultaneously.

When does the program start and end?
Two eight-week sessions are offered in the Lincoln and Omaha areas. The fall session begins in September and concludes no later than Nov. 1; the spring session begins in mid- to late March and concludes in May.

What is the cost of the program?
Fees vary by site because some school organizations and/or donors underwrite a portion of the registration fees for their students. The regular registration fee breaks down to less than $10 per week (or $5 per hour) of the Girls on the Run experience. Please e-mail girlsontherun@neb.rr.com to learn more.

What if a girl is unable to pay the program fee?
GOTR-Nebraska offers reduced rates for those with documented financial need. The reduced rates are subsidized by the Girls on the Run of Nebraska scholarship fund, which is overseen by the financial aid committee of the GOTR-Nebraska board of directors. Financial aid is limited and is distributed on a first-come, first-served basis to those girls who complete the financial aid application and submit proof of need (tax return). Incomplete applications are not considered.
